Purpose :
Life planning is an ongoing and lifelong process for personal fulfillment, with different foci at different stages of the life time.
1. Life planning education plays a key role in enabling students’ self-understanding, personal planning, goal setting, as well as self-reflection and revision, and equipping students with the knowledge of various study and career pathways.
2. The objective of life planning education should not be achieved merely by a remedial or advisory service for students when they are in need of making subject or career choice. An effective life planning education connects with school’s curriculum components, and through it, students are equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitude to make wise choices in accordance with their interests, abilities and orientations; and guided to integrate their career/academic aspirations with whole-person development and life-long learning.
Life Planning Portfolio :
Life planning for secondary schools can be divided into three stages:
1. S1 to S2:self-understanding, to establish healthy view of life and set directions for study.
2. S3 to S4:to deepen personal positioning in life planning, including understanding the relationship between senior secondary subjects’ selection strategies and tertiary studies and starting to have a general idea of different career industries for setting a preliminary life planning positioning for themselves.
3. S5-S6:to establish positive thinking, bag information of multiple career/academic pathways and craft the most appropriate pathway for themselves.

Target: Students from our school
Content:
1. Secondary School Adaption
Target |
Description |
S1 |
Senior form students play as a little tutor role in the S1 adapted programme and share their own S1 experience in order to help the target students to cope with the difficulties of secondary school adaption and assignment submission. |
2. Activity Experience
Members of uniformed groups (UGs) |
Senior form students act as leaders/NCOs to co-plan and lead the targeted students to activity participation. |
Members of extracurriculum activity groups |
Senior form students act as leaders and little tutors to instruct, co-plan and lead the junior form students to activity participation. For some of the activities and programmes, the little tutors can even assist in planning during the deep-learning weeks. |
Prefects |
Prefect Training: the head prefects and vice head prefects of both teams not only lead their teammates to honor their duties, but also nurture talented leaders, pass the torch on to them and keep being the role model for all students. |
Students from each form |
Service learning: senior form students share the skills of volunteer service leading and preparing learnt from different activities and courses to the junior form students and guide them to be the future volunteer leaders. |
3. Academic Activities
S3 |
S5 students assist elective subject teachers in preparing for the elective exhibition, answer the questions S3 students may encounter when selecting electives and share their learning difficulties and methods. |
Senior forms |
Sail With Me: elective subject teachers hire alumni who had taken the elective(s) to instruct students in class and to share their experience and skills in achieving good results in DSE. |

All students |
Life planning ambassadors: 2 students have taken part in the leader training by CLAP last year and acquired the skills of leading activities and the concept of life planning. They will assist in preparing and leading various life planning activities. |
S6 |
Mock release of the HKDSE results: Alumni will be invited to share their experience on further studies or career with S6 students in small groups. |
Purpose:Through personal coaching by teachers, students are guided to consolidate their personality, interests and abilities and integrate them into the information of tertiary programmes and career, and to set both short-term and long-term goals together for making an appropriate choice on further studies, tertiary programmes selection or employment.
Implementation:
All S6 students will be assigned to life planning section teachers, S6 class teachers, senior-form elective subject teachers, Chief/Deputy Chief teachers and Assistant Principals (see notes from Roy).
The teacher-in-charge will have to meet each student at least 3 times and through meetings, teachers will explore multiple academic/career pathways with students hand-in-hand.
